Colonel Ngo The Linh and the CSS

This page has links to the website of Colonel Ngo The Linh where it is confirmed that it was Colonel Linh and William Colby who began commandos missions by the sea in 1959. Later Colonel Linh and SOG (1964) founded the Coastal Security Service (So Phong Ve Duyen Hai -SPVZH). BietHai.jpg (12448 bytes)

Colonel Linh was the founder and first Commander of CSS and formed the Sea Commando Teams - Luc Luong Biet Hai in 1964 (the original team trained in Nha Trang in 1960 for sea commando missions under the CIA):

In addition to running spy networks and commando teams to the North by air and sea, Colonel Ngo was also instrumental in forming Earth Angels (North Vietnamese Ralliers), Sacred Sword Patriots League and other spyops with LTC McKnight, Colonel Sadler and Colonel Singlaub:

Dear Dan,
cssptf.jpg (99053 bytes) Thought you might like to have this picture of CSS/NAD
PTF on its first mission to North Vietnam in 1964 transporting
the Sea Commando.  It was sent to me from former CSS
Sea Commando Association to make this website more complete (when you use this picture, please give credit to our Sea Commando Biet Hai team member who supplied this picture - thank you)
TomWaskovich.jpg (102258 bytes) A SOA member sent me a picture of my Dad giving Vietnam
Cross of Gallantry Medal to SOG One-Zero RT South Carolina
Thomas Waskovich in 1969 in Kontum (Central Vietnam).

Colonel Ngo The Linh was the Commander of Coastal Security Service when it was founded and Commander Owen was in charge of Naval Advisory Detachment.  I believe Mr. Gougleman was in charge of training Vietnamese Sea Commando Teams in 1964. A few US advisors taught me how to dive and technique to stay under the water, I remember them as so friendly and nice gentlemen.

I recalled vaguely coming to these gentlemen's house in Da Nang eating hot dog & chips while Dad was having meeting with them.

I look forward to be working with you in future projects to continue making the public more aware of the courageous and sacrifice made by CSS/NAD in Vietnam maritime warfare.

I am looking for Colonel Ngo The Linh's American friends for more info and pictures for momento and to research to write a book for CSS and Strategic Technical Directorate from our Vietnamese's point of view.

Thank you Dan.

Best Regards,

Ngo Xuan Hung
